SPD PERSONNEL RECOGNIZED BY KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
Officer Andrew Suvada and Dispatcher Linda Leanza were recognized by the Streetsboro Knights of Columbus as Officer of the Year and Dispatcher of the Year respectively for 2007-2008 after being recommended for the award by Chief Taiclet. Both members and their families were invited to attend the awards dinner on April 27th, where they were issued engraved plaques by the Knights of Columbus as well. SPD OFFICERS UNDERGO FIREARMS & DRIVING SIMULATOR TRAINING
From April 21-25, 2008, Officers from Streetsboro PD and Hudson PD are partnering for state of the art interactive firearms and emergency driving simulator training sponsored by the Cuyahoga Community College Department of Public Safety. The PRISim force-on-force trainer is a full-featured judgment evaluation & force options training system. By design, it creates a safe, effective & realistic learning environment for law enforcement. The SimCommander driving simulator allows officers to practice critical decision making skills in a risk-free environment. The training environment is controlled with multiple scenarios such as traffic stops, pursuits, emergency response, changing the weather, time of day & vehicle characteristics. -- Posted April 21, 2008.

PINWHEELS FOR PREVENTION HIGHLIGHTS CHILD ABUSE IN PORTAGE COUNTY
In conjunction with the Childrens Advocacy Center and their campaign to highlight child abuse in Portage county, Officer James Wagner and several students from Streetsboro High School participated in the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign. 1,132 colorful pinwheels were placed at the city center of SR#14 and SR# 43 to highlight the actual number of cases of child abuse reported last year in Portage county. -- Posted April 17, 2008.

CITIZEN RECOGNITION AWARD TO SPD
On Monday April 14, 2008, Sgt. John Bodnar was recognized by Dr. Meryl Orlando of Summit Psychological Associates Inc. with a Citizen Recognition Award. The recognition was given to acknowledge the $3,160 Sgt. Bodnar raised for Special Olympics in the 2008 Lake Erie Polar Bear Plunge. -- Posted April 17, 2008.
STREETSBORO OFFICERS COMPLETE (CIT) CRISIS INTERVENTION TRAINING
On March 28, 2008 Officer Michael Cipriano and Officer Aaron Coates along with other law enforcement officers from throughout Portage County, graduated from the 5th session of the Portage County Crisis Intervention Training program (CIT). 2008 DARE GRADUATION
On Wed. February 20th, approximately 180 5th graders and staff from Defer Elementary were recognized at a packed Streetsboro High School gymnasium for graduating from the DARE program. Students received certificates, shirts, gym bags, medals and several other items emblazoned with the DARE logo. Several students were also recognized for their efforts in the DARE poster contest and the DARE essay contest. SPD LIEUTENANT COMPLETES CLEE PROGRAM
As a new graduate of the 13-month Certified Law Enforcement Executive (CLEE) program, Lt. Roy Mosley III of Streetsboro PD recently reached a high level of professional accomplishment. Lt. Mosley was one of 22 CLEE's who were honored at their graduation luncheon at the Holiday Inn on the Lane in Columbus on February 15, 2008. The ceremonies celebrated the completion of study in a unique course co-sponsored by the Law Enforcement Foundation, Inc. and the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police. The instructors include noted faculty members at universities across the Midwest and consultants to business and industry. Participants were selected for the program by meeting set standards in experience, formal and continuing education, as well as professional-related experience. Graduates of CLEE have demonstrated their mastery of designated learning modules through written examinations and papers. In addition to CLEE, Lt. Mosley is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College and the FBI National Academy. -- Posted February 23, 2008.

SPD SERGEANT IN POLAR BEAR PLUNGE TO BENEFIT SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Sgt. John Bodnar participated in The Law Enforcement Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge on February 23, 2008. This is the 5th year in a row that Sgt. Bodnar completed this event to benefit Special Olympics. Sgt. Bodnar raised a minimum of $2500.00 or more, and as a result plunged into cold, frigid Lake Erie ten (10) times in one day. SPD FILL-A-CRUISER FOR THE HOLIDAYS A SUCCESS
On Saturday December 1st, members of Streetsboro PD were at the new Wal Mart Supercenter to accept food donations in our police cruiser for the Streetsboro Christian food cupboard for the holidays. Customers filled up the cruiser multiple times, and in addition, we raised nearly $1,100 in cash donations that will go directly to the food cupboard to help needy families. SPD SERGEANT COMPLETES POLICE EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP COLLEGE
Congratulations to Sgt. John Bodnar on his graduation from PELC (Police Executive Leadership College) Class 50 on November 16, 2007. PELC is a 3 week intensive law enforcement leadership program sponsored by the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, Law Enforcement Foundation. Sgt. WAL-MART DONATES TO STREETSBORO POLICE SHOP WITH A COP PROGRAM
Thank you to Streetsboro Wal-Mart for their generous donation of $3,000 to the Shop With A Cop program on November 6th. This generation donation alone will help approximately thirty (30) needy Streetsboro area children have a much happier Christmas season. SPD OFFICER RETURNS TO DUTY FROM MIDDLE EAST

Det. Brian Shaffer was recognized by Target at their "Target and Blue" law enforcement recognition luncheon held in Cleveland today for his efforts in working with Target to arrest and prosecute a suspect who had been groping female customers inside the local Target store. Posted September 18, 2007
POLICE DEPARTMENT COMPLETES CONVERSION TO MOBILE DATA COMPUTERS FOR FLEET
The police department recently completed the installation of panasonic toughbook mobile data computers for the cruiser fleet to cooincide with our new records management system and computer aided dispatching (CAD) capabilities. STREETSBORO OFFICERS MEDAL AT 2007 OHIO POLICE & FIRE OLYMPICS
Officer Andrew Suvada and Det. Brian Shaffer won medals at the recent Police & Fire Olympics held in Troy, Ohio. Officer Suvada won 4 gold medals, including a trophy for best male weightlifter. Det.
