The City of Streetsboro Civil Service Commission administered a written examination for the position of full-time Police Officer on December 16, 2010. The Patrol Officer eligibility list from this examination will be in place for a minimum of one (1) year.

Police/Fire Communications

The Police Department currently employs seven (7) full-time Police/Fire Dispatchers. Applicants passing the Police/Fire Dispatcher civil service examination will be ranked on an eligibility list by the City of Streetsboro Civil Service Commission. Candidates must be computer literate.
Application Requirements
The City of Streetsboro is an equal opportunity employer. Applicants for the position of Police Officer with the Streetsboro Police Department must meet the following minimum requirements:
1. United States Citizen
2. 21 years old at time of examination.
3. For Officer candidates - Must have a current Ohio Peace Officer Certificate, OR, must be enrolled in a Police Academy. A
copy of your OPOTA certificate must be provided with your application.
4. Applicants must possess good moral character, and sound mental and physical health. Vision 20/20 corrected. There is a color identification requirement. Good hearing is required along with no limiting disabilities.
5. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record. An applicant may be rejected for 6 active
points on his or her drivers license and pending review, for other serious driving problems.
6. Extra points may be awarded on the civil service examination for veterans and/or college graduates. A copy of your DD-214 and/or college diploma must be provided with your application.7. An employment agreement or contract may be required.
8. There is a no tobacco use requirement.
9. Police Officer candidates passing the written civil service examination must complete and pass the Tri-C Physical Agility Test.
All candidates considered for employment will undergo a thorough review of their background, including, but not limited to: Interview(s), a complete background investigation , fingerprints and photographs, a criminal history check, a polygraph examination, a psychological examination, and a medical examination. Successful candidates will be given a provisional offer of employment and participate in a twelve (12) month probationary period.
Streetsboro Police Officers currently participate in varying assignments, including, but not limited to: Patrol, DARE, School Resource Officer (SRO), Investigations, Metro SWAT, Portage County Drug Task Force, K-9 Team, Firearms Instructor, ECD Instructor, Radar/Laser Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Chemical Repellent/OC Instructor, ADAP Instructor, Field Training Officer (FTO), Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), and Technical Traffic Accident Investigation.
Salary & Benefits
OFFICER: $20.75 to $29.00 (July 2011)
COMMUNICATIONS: $18.47 to $22.82 (July 2011)
SERGEANT: $33.06 (July 2011)
